“High-quality, premium homes with environmental integrity” are what the upper end of the market is looking for, one property developing firm believes.
Lucent has been working on a carbon-neutral property development in Melbourne’s inner north; as a result, Slate House will be one of the area’s first renewable properties.
The development of 14 apartments will use an all renewable embedded energy network to deliver a building that operates free from fossil fuels.
The learnings from this product will create principles that can be translated to the luxury end of the market, Lucent managing director Panos Miltiadou said.
“We plan to deliver a collection of high-quality, premium homes with environmental integrity — we really believe this is what the upper end of the market is looking for. They want homes that combine refined design and functionality, while also treading lightly upon the earth. Slate House will demonstrate that luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive.”
This project will illustrate that sustainability does not mean good design and a luxury experience has to be compromised.
“As developers, we have a responsibility to adapt our practices and find new ways to limit the impact on the natural environment. Aligned to deliver high-quality buildings, we have ensured that ecologically sustainable design is woven throughout this project,” Mr Miltiadou said.
