The power of mindset during a time of pandemic

Mindset can be your ultimate weapon to deal with the current social and economic uncertainty. 

As agents, we don’t only have to manage our own mindset; we also have to manage our sellers’ and our potential buyers’ mindsets. This is why making mindset a priority is important to ensure you stay productive, motivated and fulfilled during this time. 

By focusing on your own mindset, this will have a flow-on effect to others and give you clarity when you need it most. Here’s my advice for building a proactive mindset.

Keep a proactive state of mind

A proactive mindset, as opposed to a reactive mindset, is focused on maintaining a positive and productive outlook. It will encourage you to look for opportunities, ultimately helping you to stay on the front foot of the market and giving you a point of difference to other agents. 

It is important to know what’s going on in the industry, but don’t dwell on the negatives. It is important to stay positive during market lulls. 

Focus on what you can control 

Stressing over things that are out of our control, such as government decisions, is entirely futile. Instead, try to continue to look for opportunities in your current situation or even for growth within yourself. Now is a great time for self-development, building market knowledge and generating clientele.

Trust your beliefs (they are more important than you think) 

Your belief system about the market will impact your success and also your buyers’ and sellers’ confidence levels. This is why it is so important to maintain an abundance mindset at all times. It will allow you to focus on what the market has to offer, rather than any possible shortages. This will lead you to make your own opportunities and find success in any market situation. 

The more educated you are about a situation, the more chances you get to find the positives. Look at the favourable statistics in the market and surround yourself with colleagues who discuss their successful sale outcomes. You can also use these statistics and analogies to educate your buyers and sellers and help them have an abundance mindset. 

Evaluate your environment 

Your environment has a direct impact on the quality of your work and your overall performance. This is even truer when you are working from home. It is important to have a clean desk or office with plenty of bright light to provide you with a clear head and lots of motivation. 

It is also vital to surround yourself with good energy and stay healthy so that you can work consistently. 

With these tips and tools at your disposal, you will really be able to maintain your mindset or, if necessary, shift it to a more positive one. This is an incredibly accessible way to make it through these next few weeks or months and ensure you keep growing and performing as a professional.
