Formalising its social and corporate responsibility activities, Raine & Horne has launched its own charitable foundation.

The new Raine & Horne Foundation aims to support a selected number of charitable organisations annually, supported by contributions to the marketing fund by the network’s 300-plus offices.

The new foundation’s board has been revealed as consisting of Raine & Horne’s Franchise Advisory Council (FAC), Raine & Horne Holdings directors, executive chairman Mr Angus Raine and Mr Doug McCluskey.

“Raine & Horne has collaborated with many charitable organisations for almost 140 years, and the establishment of the Foundation formalises this support and will ensure we continue to be very strategic with the causes we support,” Mr Raine stated.

He added: “The Raine & Horne Foundation will now receive 10 per cent of the marketing fund annually, with the express purpose of working with several selected charities — an amazing opportunity for all Raine & Horne offices to contribute to the progress of Australia.”

As part of the launch, the Raine & Horne Foundation has announced its inaugural community partner — Dignity, a not-for-profit organisation focused on empowering people to prevent, respond to and end their homelessness.

Since 2015, Dignity has worked to combat homelessness by supporting 65,000 homeless Australians.

Operating over 14 guest homes, the organisation is reported by Raine & Horne as providing shelter for up to 180 Australians every night of the year, as well as dishing out 10,000 meals a month.

“You only have to walk the streets of our capital cities and regional towns to see this tragic situation for yourself, which has been magnified over the last 15 months,” according to Raine & Horne Group’s national marketing manager, Anjee Hopton.

“It’s truly heartbreaking, and we want to do whatever we can as a real estate group to lend a hand by supporting the fantastic work of organisations such as Dignity,” Ms Hopton said.

“With Dignity, [we] are taking the fight to homelessness,” Mr Raine added.

As well as utilising contributions to the marketing fund, the Raine & Horne Group has committed to assisting the foundation through a significant investment in traditional and digital marketing assets and support.

Dignity CEO Suzanne Hopman has welcomed the support from the Raine & Horne Foundation, and celebrated the partnership that will “provide us with the opportunity to support and empower even more people at risk of or experiencing homelessness to prevent, respond to and end their homelessness”.

“By providing essential services, such as a safe place to stay, nourishing food and new clothes, we walk alongside people on their journey back ‘home’,” Ms Hopman said.

“We believe we can collaboratively end homelessness in Australia, [and] our ultimate aim is to do just that.”

Looking ahead, Mr Raine hopes that the partnership between the Raine & Horne Foundation and Dignity will be the first of many steps in the network’s continuous efforts to “expand our longstanding reputation for helping those in need outside of business hours”.

The establishment of the Raine & Horne Foundation follows a series of charitable projects by Raine & Horne, including the support for Coleman Greig Challenge, which raised funds for St Gabriel’s School for students with hearing impairment and other special needs, Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and Westmead Hospital Foundation.
