Brisbane’s western suburbs have welcomed a new agency run by two realtors used to operating under the same roof: brothers Harry and Julian Gale.

Gale & Co., launched in partnership with UrbanX, has been open in Springfield Lakes for close to three weeks, with their first listings just settling.

The duo credit word of mouth, along with support from UrbanX, for a strong start so far, allaying any fears they might have had about branching out into their own independent venture.

“Honestly, the number of referrals has been astounding,” Harry Gale said. Their clients are comfortable working with an independent agency due to the trust the Gales have established through consistent and determined outreach in their community over the years.

“People keep saying that it didn’t matter where we worked, they just want to deal with us. And we didn’t really know that until we decided to make the move,” Harry commented.

Part of what he loves about his job in real estate is that he believes with hard work, a lot of the variables in being successful can be easily minimised.

“There really is no limit and it’s very simple. I just know how many people I have to speak to every week to get a certain number of listings to earn the income I want,” Harry continued.

It’s the argument Harry used to convince Julian, who started his career in construction, to join him in the real estate game.

The agency where the brothers originally worked afforded them a lot of opportunities, but Harry said they were looking for a way to capitalise on their talent for lead generation while avoiding parting with their commission.

“I realised that a massive portion of my listings were being self-generated, and we were under a system where it was more so about the team you’re in rather than building your own personal brand and profile,” the agent said.

“Also, principals aren’t giving the support you need for the amount of commission they collect.”

Having spent some time considering all the different options, the brothers signed on with UrbanX, feeling the support the independent model provided played to their particular strengths.

“Having that UrbanX structure where they take care of absolutely everything so we can focus on the important tasks like lead generation, listing and selling makes a lot of sense,” he said.

With a successful few weeks under their belts, they’re glad they made the move and are excited about the future.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to do things the way we want to do [them] — not adopt a one-size-fits-all approach to selling,” Harry said.

“It’s also an exciting opportunity to grow our market share; there’s really no limit for us.”
