The brand’s new COO started out her real estate career as a receptionist, and she now helms the network’s statewide operations.

Catherine Rogers has been named Stockdale & Leggo’s latest chief operating officer, following a 20-year career in Victorian property.

She first launched herself into the world of real estate when she was just 18 years old, working as a receptionist at an advertising agency in eastern Melbourne that focused on real estate.

Ms Rogers recalled: “I initially started on reception and over the course of five years I learnt as much as I could and worked my way up to a senior account manager, where I began to build relationships with real estate business owners and agents.”

In 2001, Ms Rogers rook the leap into real estate proper when she joined an agency, and over the next two decades she moved between a diverse array of roles: sales administrator, executive assistant, sales agent, office manager and compliance manager.

She also moved between a range of successful real estate brands before finally settling down with Stockdale & Leggo as a network operations executive.

Over the years, Ms Rogers has observed major changes sweep the Australian real estate sector. In her opinion, the “biggest shift in my time is how the industry shifted from being ‘about properties’ to be ‘about people’.”

“It’s now about empowering employees with the right tools, education and providing a positive and healthy workplace culture which in turn breeds successful careers and businesses,” Ms Rogers said.

Today, she sees real estate agencies “opening opportunities to people from all walks of life, removing stereotypes, focusing on employing people who are able to build relationships and roles offering more work/life balance and flexibility”.

According to Stockdale & Leggo CEO Charlotte Pascoe, Ms Rogers’ attention to the people side of real estate and her “ability to create special candidates” made her a natural candidate for the role.

“Our corporate team are all well-experienced and have can-do attitudes – they are always ready to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand to help our franchisees grow,” said Ms Pascoe.

“Catherine has fit right into the ‘Stockies Family’ and will continue to be a great asset to the growth of our brand.”

Looking forward, Ms Rogers plans to continue seizing every opportunity that comes her way.

“I look at change in a positive way and I want to continue to learn and grow,” she said. “This industry is ever-changing and when opportunities present, I am a firm believer in making the most out of them and not putting limits on anything.”
