McGrath Estate Agents has expanded its footprint on the Sunshine Coast with a new office in Coolum, reinforcing its position in one of the world’s top 10 hottest housing markets, as ranked by the Knight Frank Wealth Report.

The new branch will be led by seasoned McGrath principals Chris Pace and Damien Michael, who have been with the company since 2013.

Pace and Michael initially launched McGrath Buderim and expanded to Mooloolaba in 2016, with the latest Coolum office representing their third location on the Sunshine Coast.

The pair are long-time locals of the Sunshine Coast, recognised for their decades of experience in the local property sector, hands-on leadership, and community involvement.

McGrath’s head of franchise, Chris Mourd, said Pace and Michael’s expansive business footprint has been an asset for the company, noting that they have both invested in the local community of Coolum.

“They are well-liked and respected and have built a wonderful culture within their operation,” Mourd said.

“We are proud to have them as franchise partners and have watched them build great businesses with integrity during their 12 years at McGrath.”

The Coolum office will serve an extensive area from Coolum Beach in the north to Twin Waters in the south and inland to Yandina and the Maroochy River.

Suburbs such as Yaroomba, Mudjimba and Mount Coolum are among the key focus areas.

Situated on the Sunshine Coast, Coolum Beach is known for its laid-back beachside lifestyle and continues to attract families and investors.

It is also situated only a 13-minute drive from Sunshine Coast Airport, which makes it a perfect spot for commuters.

Pace said the new office was a strategic response to continued growth and demand in the Coolum Beach.

“Coolum Beach and its neighbouring suburbs continue to experience strong growth in population and property values,” he said.

Pace noted that CoreLogic data showed a 7.2 per cent rise in Coolum’s house prices over the year to November 2024, with the median house price reaching $1.37 million.

“The area’s appealing coastal lifestyle, combined with proximity to the Sunshine Coast airport and South-East Queensland’s significant growth post-COVID, positions it as an attractive location for residents and investors alike,” he said.

Fellow principal Michael also said the area has seen an impressive capital gain, with house prices increasing from $950,000 in 2020 to nearly $1.365 million today.

“The local unit market has also risen sharply from $600,000 to $965,000 in the past five years,” he said.

The new McGrath Coolum office launches with a team of four agents – Daniel Powers, Rohan Molineux, Vicky Dinsmore, and Daniel Gabrielli – bringing McGrath’s Sunshine Coast sales team total to 29 across its three offices.
