A former army dog handler is putting his dynamic skill set to the test in a bid to become one of inner-city Brisbane’s top agents.
Nathan Briggs, a former army dog handler, is drawing on his skills from military service as he focuses on Brisbane’s inner suburb of Teneriffe after joining Place Estate Agent’s New Farm team.
Briggs completed 10 years of military service, including deployment to Afghanistan, before making the leap to real estate in 2013.
He went on to leave the army and eventually started working for McGrath Estate Agents, rising through the ranks over 12 years.
Briggs went from personal assistant to top-selling apartment agent in Sydney’s inner west, and was ultimately named Camperdown’s number one agent in 2020.
Place Estate Agents said Briggs’ army background has been his greatest asset, bringing skills including discipline, time management, strategic thinking, clear communication, and leadership.
Briggs said that his army skills translated perfectly to real estate, adding that he was always the first in and last out on a regular work day.
“These aren’t just military skills – they’re life skills that directly apply to real estate,” he said.
Currently, he has his sights on Teneriffe, a dynamic, fast-growing suburb brimming with young professionals, families and containing a thriving apartment market.
“Navigating Teneriffe means understanding its community, its buildings, and its lifestyle. I’m immersing myself by getting to know the cafes, the residents, and building trust,” he said.
Briggs also said that real estate is a demanding industry and requires complete determination to reap the benefits.
“It’s a grind that requires constant motivation, asking for the business, and riding the market’s highs and lows. But the rewards come when you commit fully,” he said.
Since joining lead agent Aaron Woolard’s New Farm team, Nathan has already secured five listings in his first month.
Woolard said Briggs’ work ethic and real-world experience is largely unrivalled by other agents, with his military discipline and people skills making a significant impact in the region.
“The suburb’s property market is booming, and Nathan’s focus and connection to the community are key to helping buyers and sellers navigate this competitive environment,” Woolard concluded.
