Laing+Simmons has launched an intensive cadet training program for new property managers, upskilling its teams and boosting performance in the long term.
Laing+Simmons’ new intensive training program has been launched, designed to upskill new property managers joining the workforce, regardless of their existing knowledge or experience level.
The training consists of mock inspections, role plays, case studies, and software simulation using property management platform PropertyMe.
So far, three Laing+Simmons cadets have completed the program, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to their teams.
“It kicks off with a structured three-day program which includes two core training days and a third day of supervised live work within an operating Laing+Simmons PM team,” the group said.
“Following this, Laing+Simmons conducts weekly check-ins with the team member and the business they’re a part of, including the office principal, to understand specific performance metrics and identify any areas requiring additional focus.”
The program was developed by Laing+Simmons head of property management, Michael Anania, who said the network is creating future leaders in property management.
“The cadet program gives them the knowledge and the confidence to step into the role with clarity from day one, to maximise retention and minimise churn,” Anania said.
He said the program leverages the experience of the network’s PM team, making it practical, relevant, and specific to the Laing+Simmons brand.
“It therefore represents an investment in the front end of the careers of our people which pays dividends through increased retention and performance further down the track. Already, the positive impacts on our network are being felt,” he said.
Principal of Laing+Simmons Pennant Hills, Emily Khoudair, said she is seeing clear benefits from the training in her office.
“The team are stepping up so fast to the point I can have our senior step back and focus on relationships,” she said.
