A real estate network’s youngest female principal has taken the helm of a North Queensland agency, fulfilling a long-held dream after a recent acquisition.
Professionals has announced Emma Craig as its youngest female principal, assuming leadership of its Edge Hill office in Cairns’ inner-north-west, at the age of 28.
Craig, who began her real estate career at 16, said she had always wanted to run her own business in her hometown of Cairns, but thought she would have to build it from scratch.
“It wasn’t my intention to buy into a brand. But when the opportunity came up to purchase a business aligned with the Professionals, I couldn’t pass it up,” she said.
According to the young principal, the timing felt right for the office acquisition, as the network’s rebrand and renewed focus on building relationships closely aligned with her values.
Craig said that her experience across property management, business development, sales, and reception at independent agencies has given her the insight to run a real estate office.
“We currently have a team of nine, including three property managers, managing 370 properties, a business development manager and a small sales team,” she said.
Additionally, Craig said she would be focusing on bringing in new management clients, boosting sales, growing the team, and improving marketing.
“I’ve set an ambitious goal of personally adding 100 new management clients in the first twelve months to build a strong foundation for sustainable growth.”
Professionals CEO Sean Hanneberry said Craig’s motivation, innovative thinking, and challenger mindset reflected the characteristics of the new generation of real estate professionals.
“It’s an honour to have her as part of Professionals where her fresh and collaborative approach will contribute to the growth and success of the entire network,” Hanneberry said.
Craig said she was ready to service the Cairns region, which was bustling with a mix of owner-occupiers and investors seeking to secure a foothold before prices rose further.
“The Cairns market is really strong right now, and we’re seeing a lot of demand, particularly for apartments,” she said.
“Houses are becoming increasingly out of reach for many buyers, so people are turning to apartments as a more affordable option,” Craig concluded.
