REA Group has created a new leadership role to oversee its national sales team, enhance customer outcomes, and leverage AI to improve efficiency and drive industry growth.

REA Group has announced the appointment of Gerard Connell to the newly-created role of executive general manager, sales.

Based in Melbourne, the company said Connell will lead the national sales team, working with customers across residential, commercial, new homes, and media.

Connell brings over 20 years of experience, including leading consumer, retail, and technology practice groups at Egon Zehnder across Australia and New Zealand, and senior sales, marketing, customer experience, and digital retail roles at General Motors.

REA said Connell had a solid track record of building relationships and partnering with business owners and corporate leadership to support their ongoing success.

Connell said he was ready to work with customers to unlock new ways to boost efficiency and profitability in their workplaces through technology.

“My focus will be on helping our customers get bigger and better results now and into the future, supporting the long-term success of the industry.”

The company said Connell’s appointment would also help deliver customer value by harnessing AI to drive efficiencies.

“REA is accelerating its AI delivery, and alongside new customer and consumer product value, a range of AI-focused initiatives will be rolled out to customers in the coming months.”

It said the initiatives included on-demand training and education content, bookable sessions with AI and market experts, and AI accelerator grants to help customers apply the technology practically.

Connell said that as AI continued to transform the property market, he would be listening to customers to help them achieve tangible results.

“Whether that’s driving more effective campaigns, empowering teams with new tools to unlock more efficient workflows or helping them plan their next phase of growth.”

REA Group chief customer and commercial officer, Kul Singh, said REA’s priority was to be the go-to partner for customers to achieve the strongest results.

“Gerard’s deep expertise will be an important asset as we support the industry through its next wave of transformation,” he concluded.
