Barry Plant’s 80 offices now manage 25,200 properties across Victoria, with the group reporting strong growth in its property management  division.

The group reported rental listings grew by 8.75 per cent over the last 12 months, attributing the growth to ongoing training and development of its staff.

“Our aim is to ensure all property managers are well equipped with the knowledge and expertise to offer clients the best experience possible,” the group’s property management consultant Kerry Fraser said.

“This includes consistently improving and updating new initiatives and embracing the latest technological developments.”

Mr Fraser said the group also runs an accreditation program.

“To become an ‘Accredited Property Manager’, staff must meet criteria which include undertaking additional training, and exhibiting the level of experience required for accreditation status,” he said.

“The Group currently has 95 Accredited Property Managers.”

Mr Fraser was talking on the sidelines of the group’s Think Tank Conference, which attracted 200 delegates and included talks by property management specialist Darren Hunter, Jindou Lee from Happy Inspector and  Andrew Reece from inspectrealestate.com.au.

Ross Rushton and Amy Grady from Consumer Affairs Victoria also made themselves available for a Q&A session where property managers were given the opportunity to ask questions and generate discussion about current industry issues.

“Without doubt technological change and advancement must be embraced to improve effectiveness and efficiency,” Mr Fraser added.

“As a group we must be ready for the challenge.”
