The hardest places in Australia to be an agent

Pity the agents who work in 10 suburbs scattered throughout Australia, where houses take more than 160 days on average to sell.

Bermagui is the hardest suburb in Australia to sell a house, according to CoreLogic RP Data statistics for suburbs that had at least 50 house sales in the year to July 2015.

The NSW coastal town had a time on market of 200 days and a median house price of $375,000.

The town of Nanango, which is 190 kilometres north west of Brisbane, had an average time on market of 185 days and a median house price of $182,000.

Yarrawonga, which lies on the Victorian side of the Murray River, had a time on market of 174 days and a median price of $285,000.

Houses in the Victorian alpine town of Bright sold after 172 days at a median price of $330,000.

The top five was rounded out by Smithton in Tasmania, a town on the north-west coast where it took 170 days to sell a house and the median price was $208,000.

Coonabarabran and Wellington in north-western NSW had an average time on market of 167 days, with the former having a median price of $188,000 and the latter having a median price of $140,000.

The NSW town of Narrandera, which is 240 kilometres west of Canberra, had a time on market of 165 days and a median house price of $150,000.

Moonta Bay, which is 200 kilometres north west of Adelaide, had a time on market of 162 days and a median house price of $280,000.

Houses in the Victorian town of Tatura sold after 161 days at a median price of $237,000.
