A Melbourne agency is marking the end of footy season and celebrating AFL’s finest by flipping a real estate convention on its head.
Marshall White is making footy fans’ days by using traditional real estate sign boards – which usually showcase a home’s distinctive features – to pay tribute to the top eight teams competing for this year’s title.
Displayed outside houses across the city’s inner suburbs, each board honours one team, with supporters urged to find their favourite and snap a shot. Some of them might have to act fast – as teams are eliminated, their signboards will be removed.
To encourage fans to show their team pride, the brand has also launched a coinciding competition, with three $500 cash prizes available to the best selfies posted with the boards on Instagram.
So far communities have been getting a kick out of the initiative, whether they’re representing Carlton, Melbourne, St Kilda, Collingwood, Port Adelaide, Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions or GWS Giants.
Giving some insight into the idea behind the campaign, the brand’s CEO, Simon Jovanovic, said it made sense to celebrate the sport on the streets of their community.
“At Marshall White, community and sportsmanship go together, and what better way to demonstrate that than through friendly rivalry,” he said.
The brand hopes the campaign will bring a bit of levity to a year that has posed challenges for many Australians, with cost of living pressures taking a mental toll.
The brand said it hopes this initiative would “offer a lighthearted break and a reason for fans to celebrate, snap pictures and unite in their love for football. With these boards, Marshall White is amplifying the joy and excitement of being part of Melbourne’s sporting culture”.
Fans who want to be in the mix for the top prize are encouraged to “wear your colours and make your way to the nearest Marshall White board to show off your team pride. Get creative; bring props, face paint, or even your pet in team attire”.
Entrants simply need to tag and follow the brand @marshallwhiterealestate and use the hashtag #cheerwithMW to enter.
