Q&A: Jasmine DiBlasi, Time Conti Sheffield Perth

As a senior property manager, Jasmine DiBlasi believes in offering a complete service to landlords and tenants to ensure consistent quality throughout her rent roll.

When did you first join the PM industry? 


Why did you join the PM industry? 

I started as a receptionist at a real estate and was offered the opportunity to assist in property management. I was then scouted by another local agent to become the BDM and property manager for their agency.

What were you doing before PM? 

I worked in the retail industry.

What would you like your next career step to be? 


I would like to grow my portfolio and train new staff within my current role to help my company grow.

What piece of technology do you find the most useful for your business and why? 

I would say my iPad because it helps me keep on top of emails during the day, in and out of the office, and it gives me the ability to submit inspections from out of the office with the inspection app PIM.

What area of PM needs more training focused around it and why? 

Time management; I find that with staff and other people in the industry, it’s where they struggle the most.

What skills does a PM/BDM need to be successful? 

Common sense, accountability, a sense of urgency and good organisation.   


Where do you believe a PM’s responsibilities should start and end? 

The way I try to work is by putting myself in the clients’ shoes and taking into consideration each individual’s needs. I believe a PM is responsible from start to finish. At Time Conti Sheffield, we complete everything in house; all tasks are handled by the PM so that each tenant and owner knows exactly who they are dealing with.

How do you deal with disgruntled and aggressive tenants? 

If it’s an email, I give them a call to defuse the situation rather than writing a long email back. On the phone, I let the tenant tell their side of the story as generally, after they have vented, they begin to calm down. I then tell them the required steps to resolve the issue and confirm our conversation in writing.

What would you be doing if you weren’t in the PM industry? 

Possibly still in retail or a customer serviced-based position.

What do you enjoy most about your job? 

I enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done, having an empty in-tray, making clients happy and meeting deadlines.

What are the most stressful aspects of your job? 

The urgency in property management; a lot of your day is worked around what becomes priority, which often leads to the smaller things getting delayed.

How do you relax after a stressful day at work? 

I like to cook, so coming home to my family, cooking dinner and preparing snacks and meals for the week helps me wind down.

How would you describe a perfect property management day? 

Completing my calendar appointments as scheduled: inspections, sign-ups, viewings and so on, without issues arising that require immediate attention.
