One of Queensland’s leading strata management companies has appointed a chief executive officer to guide the company through a strata industry growth phase generated by the surge in residential apartment buildings.

Archers the Strata Professionals has appointed Nicky Lonergan to the role of CEO.

She joins from specialist accountancy firm SV Partners, where she was COO.

Archers chair Colin Archer said that hers is an important appointment.

“Nicky is a professional services industry leader who brings a high level of business acumen to Archers as we go through an important growth phase,” he said.

“While we enjoy continued growth and success, the strategic CEO appointment has been made to ensure the business continues to leverage its existing strengths to drive and implement new strategies as the industry develops further with technological advancements.”

Mrs Lonergan said that she welcomes the opportunity to manage the growth of Archers.

“Archers, which has six offices servicing regions from the Gold Coast to far North Queensland, is a trailblazer in the strata management industry and holds an eminent reputation within both its own sector and the multi-residential development industry throughout the state,” she said.

“I will be working with an exceptionally knowledgeable and dedicated executive management team to ensure continued growth across customer care, quality service delivery, effective operations and business development, ensuring growth does not compromise service.”

Archers partner Grant Mifsud said the industry is experiencing a period of rapid change.

“These are exciting, but also challenging, times for the strata industry, as there has been strong growth in people moving into strata communities, and particularly an increase in the number of families choosing to live in apartments,” he said.

“This, in turn, increases demand for strata managers with knowledge of strata legislation and associated laws which cover many areas of safety compliance as well as property law. There is a need to better educate residents about investing and living in a body corporate.

“Strata managers have to deal with perennial issues including what we call the five Ps — pets, parking, parties, passive smoking and also pests — who continually complain about the body corporate or its by-laws, usually due to lack of understanding.”
