Low interest rates, increased buyer optimism and high demand created the perfect storm for many agents in the final months of 2020.

The momentum in Australia’s real estate market is reflected in Openn Negotiation’s quarterly agent report, with outstanding results reported across the nation.

Smart Real Estate's Brad Scott took out first and second place in the ‘Most Bidders on a Property’ category with 15 qualified buyers on two listings.

The buyer interest created using the Openn Negotiation process is extraordinary and has created a point of difference said Mr Scott.

“There's other open houses where agents are getting 2 to 3 buyers through and here we are with literally a line out the driveway. It was like a convoy of cars," he said.

“Sellers are obviously noticing that we’re doing something different to get better results. We get a lot of business just through social proof.”

Wes Thornton of Real Estate Geelong was another standout, claiming the ‘Negotiation of the Quarter’ and ‘Lowest Days on Market’ categories.

Having used Openn Negotiation for the past 12 months, Mr Thornton said it brings together the best parts of private treaty and auction processes.

"An auction has a timeline which is great because it forces people to make a decision and creates urgency.

"On the other hand, you can't buy subject to finance, which Openn Negotiations offer,” said Mr Thornton.

Representing Western Australia strongly were Elders Bunbury's Roslyn Ierace and Mint Real Estate’s Peter Clements, who both tied for ‘Highest Number of Openn Negotiation Listings’.

Becoming an early adopter of the Openn Negotiation process has paid dividends for Ms Ierace’s lead generation and referral numbers.

“It’s getting to the point where people will call me and say: ‘you’re that lady who uses that auction thing’,” she said.

“I say to people, if it was my choice, if it was my house, this is the only way I’d sell it. I find it really hard to go into an appraisal now and not push Openn.”
