NSW real estate businesses can now easily stay on top of their staff’s licences, thanks to a new online tool launched by the government.

Minister for Fair Trading Eleni Petinos announced that real estate and property service companies could now utilise their Service NSW Business Profile to check and manage licences of real estate professionals operating under their firm.

According to the regulator, the new licence manager tool uses data from the public register of licence holders to notify a business owner when an employee’s licence is cancelled, surrendered, suspended, expiring soon or expired.

Ms Petinos stated that the new feature would not only help firms to stay abreast of compliance obligations but also allows business owners to “spend more time focused on running and growing their business”.

The new live feature on the regulator’s website comes amid a time when properties in NSW are in high demand.

“The real estate and property sector is worth around $24 billion annually to the NSW economy. With more than 25,000 real estate licence holders, it is critical to ensure real estate agents’ licences are up-to-date and easily accessible,” Ms Petinos said.

Aside from helping businesses to keep track of the licence status of their staff, real estate firms can also stay on top of construction and trade licences through the Service NSW Business Profile.

This will allow real estate and property service companies to also check the accreditation of their sub-contractors and employees, Ms Petinos stated. Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello lauded the new website feature, noting that it will make it “faster and easier” to oversee business licences and applications for grants, voucher programs and more.

“As a modern and customer-centric government we are committed to giving business owners the support and tools they need to thrive and the Service NSW Business Profile provides a smart and secure digital gateway for transacting with government and managing their business,” Mr Dominello stated.
