Second Century Ventures, the strategic investment arm of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), has announced the stable of start-up proptech companies joining its 2023 REACH Australia class.

The scale-up program, which is now in its fourth year, helps technology companies in real estate drive growth by leveraging a network of industry executives to provide significant exposure to the global real estate market.

This year, eight companies were chosen for the program, including creative property management software solutions provider Sensor Global, tenant-focused digital wallet application Liz, property care platform provider Tapi, artificial intelligence platforms ListAssist.ai and Properti.ai, online offer management platform MarketBuy.com.au, and end-to-end SaaS provider Realtime Conveyancer.

The hand-picked cohorts are set to kick off this year’s class with the REACH Genesis conference in Brisbane on 12 March.

Peter Schravemade, the managing partner of REACH ASEA, welcomed the “new innovators” to the property community.

“This portfolio has demonstrated tremendous relevance and innovation to the global real estate industry, and we are excited about the growth 2023 will bring,” he commented.

He also noted that this year’s line-up represents not just “a dynamic group of start-ups that are not just pushing the boundaries of innovation in the real estate industry” but also brings “diversity and inclusivity to the forefront”.

“With a strong representation of New Zealand-owned companies such as Tapi and ListAssist, as well as three companies led by female C-suite executives, these firms are not only addressing the persistent challenges in the global housing market but also enhancing the capabilities of agents and brokers to serve consumers more efficiently,” he stated.

Properti.ai founder and chief executive Craig Deveson said he is thrilled to be part of the program that he hopes will drive both local and international expansion of their platform.

He highlighted that several start-ups in the industry — including ActivePipe, Box Brownie, RateMyAgent, Openn Negotiation, Propic, and FutureRent — have used the REACH initiative as a springboard towards “raving success”.

“We look forward to working with Peter, Tom and Ebonnie as we move toward expanding, locally and internationally, as a 2023 REACH Australia company,” he stated.

Named as the residential venture capital of the year in 2022 by the proptech think tank Center for Real Estate Technology & Innovation (CRETI), the REACH program has notably fostered partnerships with multiple Real Estate Institute peak bodies and strategic alliances with technology associations and advisory boards throughout its run.

Last July, REACH inked a deal with the Real Estate Institute of Queensland that will amp up support of emerging proptechs, with the state peak real estate body lending support in providing its specialist knowledge to the innovators looking to shake up the sector.
