They look at the question from a buyer’s perspective, tackling the question: are you really going to get the best deal through employing a professional to do the negotiating for you, or are they likely to spend up to your limit because they know you can afford it, and it’s not their money?

It all comes down to trust, and Tom outlines the difference between those who are there to serve the best interests of their clients and those who will put their own priorities first.

Beyond negotiation, Phil and Tom look at all the other tasks and objectives that make up the role and liken the job to painting a house: 90 per cent prep work, 10 per cent execution.
