The Real Estate Institute has created a new QR code capability inside its form platform, in a bid to allow agents an easier method of complying with state government regulations around contact tracing.
REI Forms Live platforms across the country “quickly create compliant COVID tracing material for individual addresses”.
According to a statement announcing the inclusion, the “simple to use” template sees users enter the address for an open for inspection or auction, and when they finalise and print the form, it will automatically generate a unique QR code to display with the agent’s details.
Buyers, potential tenants and auction-goers will then just need to use their smartphone to scan the code when visiting the property and register their attendance by supplying their name, email and phone number for tracking purposes, which then becomes a report which can be shared with authorities if it is ever required.
Not limited to home inspections, the contract tracing forms will also be able to be used for any purpose where tracing is required or desirable, which could be used for Victorian offices that need to trace staff members returning to work as is now required, and extend to checking in attendees at the office Christmas party.
The new contact tracing form reduces risk and makes it easier for agents to adhere to best practice for tracing COVID-19 or any future pandemic, according to David Howell, the CEO of Dynamic Methods, the company behind the REI Forms Live and Realworks platforms for real estate institutes across Australia.
He said “creating compliant contact and trace material has been a time-consuming and fiddly job for an office admin person, but with new rules and regulations being introduced around health and safety, it looks like they are here to stay”.
Acknowledging most state governments as moving away from pen and paper lists and requiring digital tracing methods, Mr Howell said agents “have had to work out their own way of doing it” which has caused plenty of uncertainty.
“These new forms inside the Forms Live and Realworks platforms make it quick and easy to be compliant and ensure everyone feels safe,” he said.
According to the Real Estate Institute, the reports created via the platform are localised to reflect the legislation in each state and are kept for the mandatory number of days required by the state.
The data is stored securely in Australia in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles and the Federal Privacy Act.
The free contact tracing forms can be found inside REI Forms Live in NSW, WA, NT and Tasmania, Realworks in Queensland and Forms Live in Victoria.
